What families tell us after the ride

Word for word from our Google reviews. These are the trips where being on time and being kind matter more than the car.

★★★★★
“My father was recently discharged from Vancouver General Hospital and needed transportation to Whistler. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to accompany him on the trip, so I was a little concerned about how everything would go. The team at NorthLuxDrive made the entire experience stress-free. They were professional, punctual, and took excellent care of my father throughout the journey. …”

“I needed transportation for my elderly parents from Kelowna to Downtown Vancouver, and one of them requires a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. It was a last-minute request, and after calling several transportation companies, nobody was willing or able to help on such short notice. NorthLuxDrive was the only company that stepped up and found a solution. …”

Non-emergency medical transport — Surrey

The right vehicle, the right driver, and a number you can hold us to

Surrey is the busiest patient-transport city in the province, and Surrey Memorial is the busiest hospital in Fraser Health. Getting a patient to a 7:00 a.m. dialysis chair from Cloverdale, or home to Fleetwood at 9:00 p.m. after a long discharge, takes planning rather than luck.

NorthLuxDrive coordinates non-emergency transfers across all six Surrey town centres and the rural south — hospital discharges, Jim Pattison Outpatient Centre appointments, Czorny Alzheimer Centre visits, care home moves, and recurring treatment schedules that run for months.

You get one number to call, a quoted price before the first trip, and a driver who knows which entrance at Surrey Memorial is the right one for your appointment.

What we move patients for

Why Surrey families book with us

The part that usually goes wrong, handled properly

Most complaints about patient transport come down to three things: the wrong vehicle turned up, it turned up late, or the price changed. Those are the three we design around.

Every vehicle checked

Licensing, insurance, condition and attendant training are verified before a vehicle is sent to a patient. What arrives is what was quoted.

Built around the appointment

Drivers are briefed on the appointment time, not just the pickup time, and standing schedules keep the same window week after week.

Quoted before you commit

You get the price in writing first. Wait time, mobility assistance and distance are all in the number, so nothing appears afterwards.

One contact for everything

A single trip or a six-month treatment block runs through the same coordinator. You are not re-explaining the situation each time.

Drivers who slow down

Patient transport is not a rideshare. Our drivers wait, assist, and treat people with the patience the situation actually needs.

Metro Vancouver and beyond

Local Surrey trips, cross-region treatment runs and out-of-province arrivals are all handled by the same team.

How Surrey families actually use this

Booking Surrey medical transport

Four steps, and only the first one is your job

You give us the appointment. We handle the vehicle, the driver, the timing and the assistance.

1

Tell us the appointment

Pickup address, destination, appointment time, and how the patient moves — unaided, walker, manual chair or powered chair.

2

We match the vehicle

We pick from ramp vans, sedans, SUVs and minibuses based on the mobility details, the driveway and who else is travelling.

3

You get the price first

A written quote covering the drive, the assistance and any wait time. Approve it and the schedule is locked in.

4

The patient arrives

The driver arrives early, assists at the door, and stays until the patient is checked in at the right department.

About patient transport in Surrey

What to know before you book non-emergency transport

Whether it is one wheelchair transfer home from Surrey Memorial Hospital or a three-month treatment schedule, the questions are the same. Here are the honest answers.

Non-emergency medical transport options in Surrey

Providers in Surrey vary more than families expect — in vehicle equipment, in attendant training, and in how honestly they quote. We hold every vehicle to one standard so the van that arrives is the van that was described on the phone.

  • Wheelchair-accessible vans with ramps and four-point restraints
  • Executive sedans for patients who transfer into a seat unaided
  • SUVs with room for oxygen, a walker and a caregiver
  • Minibuses for care facility groups travelling to one destination

Choosing the right vehicle for the patient

The right vehicle depends on three things: how the patient moves, what equipment travels with them, and who is coming along. We ask all three before quoting rather than sending whatever is free.

  • Full-time wheelchair users — ramp-equipped accessible van
  • Ambulatory patients — executive sedan or SUV with a higher seat
  • Oxygen or bulky equipment — full-size SUV with cargo room
  • Care facility groups — Sprinter van or minibus

Recurring schedules for ongoing treatment

Dialysis, chemotherapy and radiation run for weeks or months. Rebooking every trip is exhausting, so we take the schedule once and run the whole course from it.

  • Book the full treatment block in one conversation
  • Same chauffeur where staffing allows, so the routine is familiar
  • Tell us early about time changes and the block is rescheduled
  • Wait-and-return available for shorter same-day procedures

Medical transport compared with a taxi or rideshare

For a mobile patient on a short trip, a taxi is fine and we will say so. The moment mobility equipment, transfer assistance or a fixed appointment time is involved, the comparison stops being close.

  • Fully mobile, one-off trip — a standard ride may be enough
  • Wheelchair or transfer assistance — an accessible vehicle with a trained driver
  • Ongoing treatment schedule — one coordinator and one standing booking
  • Facility coordination — multiple residents, timings and staff handover

Questions we get from Surrey families

Straight answers before you book

How much does non-emergency medical transport cost in Surrey?

It depends on the vehicle, the distance, whether an attendant is needed and whether the trip is one-off or recurring. A sedan transfer within Surrey costs less than a wheelchair-van trip with transfer assistance to a Vancouver clinic. We quote your specific trip in writing before you commit — no estimate ranges, no adjusting afterwards.

Is this an ambulance service?

No. We coordinate non-emergency transport only — scheduled appointments, discharges and transfers where the patient is medically stable and does not need clinical care en route. If this is an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Can you transport someone in a wheelchair?

Yes. Ramp-equipped vans with four-point restraints are core to the service. Tell us whether the chair is manual or powered, and roughly what it weighs if powered, so we assign a van rated for it rather than discovering the problem at the door.

Can you set up a recurring schedule for dialysis or chemotherapy?

Yes, and it is our most common Surrey booking. Give us the treatment schedule once and the whole block is scheduled, with the same chauffeur wherever staffing allows and one consolidated invoice instead of a receipt per trip.

Can a family member or caregiver travel with the patient?

Yes. Most of our vehicles seat at least one companion alongside the patient, plus room for a folded chair or walker. Mention it when you request the quote so we allocate the seating rather than squeezing it.

Which Surrey hospital entrance will the driver use?

We confirm the correct entrance before the trip. Surrey Memorial has separate access for emergency, ambulatory care, the Critical Care Tower and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Centre, and arriving at the wrong one costs a patient fifteen minutes they may not have. Tell us the department and we route to it.
